The MChinMed(Acup&Mox) programme is a 2-year part-time programme offered by the School of Chinese Medicine. It aims at offering Chinese Medicine professionals with enhanced theoretical foundation, clinical skills and research knowledge in the field of acupuncture and moxibustion.

The MChinMed programme is a 2-year part-time programme offered by the School of Chinese Medicine. This programme aims to enhance the theoretical knowledge and strengthen clinical skills in Chinese medicine of those Chinese Medicine professionals, particularly in the stream of Internal Medicine.
To be eligible for admission the candidate should:1. comply with the General Regulations; and2. be a registered Pharmacist holding a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from this University, or from another university, or comparable institution accepted for this purpose; and3. be a registered Pharmacist in Hong Kong; and4. satisfy the examiners in a qualifying examination, if required.
Clinical Pharmacy is the principle practice of pharmacists in developed countries, the benefit on patients’health and outcome measures of having a clinical pharmacy service both within the hospital and community settings have been well documented. It has been recognised that there is a need to develop specialist clinical pharmacy services in Hong Kong and this Master programme will provide students with both the initiative to improve our current practice and the confidence to do this effectively.

The Master of Medical Sciences (MMedSc) programme provides structured training in basic medical and clinical disciplines to enable postgraduates to embark on specialist studies, practice or teaching for career and personal development. Other objectives are to provide a bridging mechanism for preclinical and clinical studies, and to promote integrated training in the fundamentals of basic and applied medical sciences.
To be eligible for admission to the curriculum leading to the degree of Master of Nursing, candidates shall:(a) comply with the General Regulations; and(b) comply with the Regulations for Taught Postgraduate Curricula; and(c) be a Registered Nurse holding a Bachelor's degree in nursing from this University, or from another university, or comparable institution accepted for this purpose; and(d) be eligible for active nursing registration with the Nursing Council of Hong Kong, or its equivalent;; and(e) satisfy the examiners in a qualifying examination if required.Advanced standing of up to 12 credit units may be granted to a candidate who has successfully completed equivalent course(s) subject to approval by the Faculty Board. The Master of Nursing [MNurs] programme provides opportunities for nursing graduates to prepare for advanced nursing practice in keeping with the rapid changes in healthcare in Hong Kong. The curriculum consists of 3 compulsory core courses (18 credits), 3 track core courses (18 credits), 3 elective courses (18 credits) and a capstone experience which includes a Translational Nursing Research course (6 credits) and a Dissertation (9 credits), making a total of 69 credits. This programme aims to provide opportunities for graduates with relevant background to be equipped with in-depth knowledge and skills for working in the active field of psychosis. It will also equip students with the capacity to critically contemplate the knowledge base in psychosis and to derive information, ideas and insight that could contribute to clinical service, education, public awareness, and research in the field of psychosis.
To be eligible for admission to the curriculum leading to the Master of Public Health, a candidate shall:(a) comply with the General Regulations;(b) comply with the Regulations for Taught Postgraduate Curricula;(c) hold a Bachelor's degree with honours or the degrees of MBBS of this University, or another qualification of equivalent standard from this University or from another University or comparable institution accepted for this purpose;(d) satisfy the University English language requirement applicable to higher degrees as prescribed under General Regulation G2(b); and(e) satisfy the examiners in a qualifying examination, if required.Advanced standing may be granted to a candidate who has successfully completed one or more courses in the Postgraduate Diploma/Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health curricula subject to the following conditions:(a) such course(s) should be completed no more than 5 years prior to the candidate's commencement of the Master of Public Health curriculum;(b) such course(s) should be appropriate for the Master of Public Health concentrations the candidate has applied for; and(c) advanced standing for up to 9 credits may be granted.
The Master of Public Health is a broadly based graduate training programme designed to prepare physicians, dentists, nurses, other health professionals, medical and health researchers and policy analysts to identify and analyse contemporary health and healthcare issues in Hong Kong, China and the Asia Pacific.
MBBS students of The University of Hong Kong who have completed the fourth year of the MBBS curriculum; or those who have completed the third year of the MBBS curriculum and are already in possession of a Bachelor's degree with honours or equivalent in a science field. Candidates must have demonstrated excellent academic performance in their MBBS study.
The Master of Research in Medicine [MRes(Med)] programme was introduced in July 2000 to provide structured research training to HKU MBBS students while they are in the medical school. With the objective of nurturing a research culture among MBBS students, the programme will enable them to develop lifelong clinical and/or laboratory research skills and the ability to engage in research effectively. To complete the programme, students will have demonstrated by presenting a dissertation that they have acquired an acceptable level of knowledge and understanding in a chosen field of study.
To be eligible for admission, a candidate shall:(a) comply with the General Regulations but with a waiver of Regulation G2(b);(b) comply with the Regulations for Taught Postgraduate Curricula but with a waiver of Regulation TPG2(d); and(c) hold(i) the degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy in Chinese Medicine of this University, or a qualification of equivalent standard from another University or comparable institution accepted for this purpose; or(ii) a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, physiotherapy, biology, chemistry, biochemistry or another healthcare related programme, and a certificate or diploma in Pharmacy in Chinese Medicine from a University or comparable institution accepted for this purpose or at least one year's relevant work experience in the field of Chinese medicines as deemed appropriate by the Board of Studies; or(iii) the degree of Bachelor of Chinese Medicine (BChinMed) of this University or an appropriate qualification of equivalent standard from another University or comparable institution accepted for this purpose; and a certificate or diploma in Pharmacy in Chinese Medicine from a University or comparable institution accepted for this purpose or at least one year's relevant work experience in the field of Chinese medicines as deemed appropriate by the Board of Studies.
In line with the policy of producing high calibre professionals for Chinese medicine as promulgated by the Government of the HKSAR and to meet the training needs of practitioners and professionals in the pharmaceutical field, the programme aims at enhance their management skills, knowledge in quality control, research and development, manufacturing and trade in the pharmaceutical field of Chinese medicines.
To be eligible for admission to the curriculum leading to the Postgraduate Diploma in Infectious Diseases, a candidate shall:(a) comply with the General Regulations;(b) comply with the Regulations for Taught Postgraduate Curricula;(c) hold the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery of this University, or a degree or another qualification of equivalent standard from another university or comparable institution accepted for this purpose; and(d) satisfy the examiners in a qualifying examination, if required.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Infectious Diseases [PDipID] programme and infectious diseases update courses aim to provide understanding of and practical experience in infectious-disease management for physicians, surgeons, clinical microbiologists, other clinicians and healthcare workers who are actively involved in the daily management of patients suffering from infectious diseases. Special emphasis is placed on infectioins that are major health problems locally or globally. The programme lasts for two years on a part-time basis, and comprises teaching and prescribed work including lecture courses, a clinical attachment, a project and literature reviews. Students who do not intend to pursue the PDipID qualification may opt to take the individual two-day courses.
